Green Play

The sustainable side of play

Designing Joy,
Protecting the future: sustainability at Vinci Play

At Vinci Play, we believe that carefree play must go hand in hand with responsibility for the environment in which future generations will grow up! Sustainability is more than just a buzzword for us - it is the foundation of our strategy, based on three core pillars:

  • We are intensifying our climate action by implementing a circular economy and low-emission production processes.
  • We support environmental education and intergenerational integration in the spaces where our playgrounds are built.
  • We ensure the development and safety of our employees and partners across the entire supply chain.

Carbon footprint:
complete transparency

As an industry leader, we rely on hard data. In collaboration with Bureau Veritas, we have conducted a comprehensive carbon footprint analysis of our products, in accordance with the international GHG Protocol standard.

What does this mean for you? We track emissions from the extraction of raw materials, through transportation, right up to the manufacturing process in our facilities.

Our reports indicate that raw materials have the greatest impact on the climate (often exceeding 80%)-which is why their selection is crucial to us. We have ready calculations for 11 main product groups, empowering you to consciously design eco-friendly public spaces.

Innovative
recycled materials

We are replacing traditional components with secondary raw materials, reducing CO2 emissions without compromising on quality.

  • RECYCLED Series: Products based 100% on recycled materials.
  • Ocean waste HDPE: We utilize polyethylene manufactured from processed fishing nets and ropes (available in green).
  • Our innovative recycled textile material is resistant to water, corrosion, and UV radiation, matching the durability of steel.
  • We use black locust (Robinia pseudoacacia) - the most durable European wood, which requires no chemical preservation and is sourced from FSC® certified plantations.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ) Carboon footprint report

What is a product carbon footprint and why do we measure it?

The carbon footprint is the total sum of greenhouse gas emissions (primarily carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide) caused directly or indirectly by the manufacturing of a given product. This analysis allows us to accurately determine the climate impact of our solutions and implement changes to minimize it.

What exactly did the Vinci Play report cover?

The report was prepared in collaboration with the independent certification body Bureau Veritas, in accordance with the international GHG Protocol standard. The analysis covered 11 main product groups from our portfolio.

What does the "cradle-to-gate" analysis scope mean?

This means we examined emissions at every stage of the product's creation,
right up until it leaves our facility. The analysis included:

  • The extraction and processing of raw materials (e.g., steel, wood, plastics).
  • The transportation of raw materials and packaging to our factories.
  • The complete production process, including electricity and fuel consumption
  • as well as waste management.
Where do the most emissions occur in a playground's life cycle?

Our research shows that raw materials are the key factor. Depending on the product series, the acquisition and initial processing of materials account for approximately 80% of the total carbon footprint. This is precisely why we place such high importance on selecting the right suppliers and certified materials.

Can the results of the Vinci Play report be compared with data from other manufacturers?

According to the report's methodology, the results are unique to Vinci Play's operations. Direct comparisons with other companies can be misleading due to differences in production processes, as well as data collection and allocation methods.

How will this report influence future Vinci Play products?

Having verified data opens up new opportunities for responsible design. We plan to further transform our portfolio in the spirit of a circular economy, placing an even stronger emphasis on low-emission innovations, as well as the recycling and upcycling of materials.

Was the report externally verified?

Yes, the analysis was conducted and verified by Bureau Veritas, ensuring its methodological consistency and credibility.

Recycled, a better way!

Caring for the future of children and future generations, the idea was born to replace our classic elements of play equipment construction with post-consumer recycled materials. As a result, we have created a group of Recycled products based in 100% on recyclable materials that lower carbon emission.
